DESCRIPTION:The Ellemford Show is the highlight of the local social calendar! It is one of the last agricultural shows of the season – always held on the last Saturday in September. There is something unique and precious about the Ellemford Show that attracts people from far and beyond. To think this wee Agricultural Show is still going after 133 years makes it pretty amazing. \nThere are two parts to the show; the Agricultural Show run by the Lammermoor Pastoral Society\, and the “Industrial Section” for rural arts and crafts. \nAgricultural Show\nEwes\, lambs and tups\, Shepherds and Farmers from miles around compete for a large number of cups on the day. The Cattle Competition\, for a field with 20 cows with calves at foot\, is judged on-farm in advance\, with the winner announced on the day. In the Cattle Haugh at the other side of the Whiteadder Bridge the Dog Trials are held\, with the first trial starting at 9.00 a.m. Sheep showing and judging starts at 10.00 in the morning. \nIf all this hard work sparks your appetite\, why not indulge in a bacon butty or why not sample the on field catering or have a wee dram at the bar. Cup presentations start at 2.00 pm. After this there is usually great hilarity and\, no doubt\, chaos at the Terrier racing. \nAll together it’s quite a sight\, this big white tent shining at the foot of the Whiteadder Bridge\, with the pens of sheep\, Vintage tractors\, Stationary engines\, colourful stands and Car-Boots spread over the Show Haugh. The large Bouncy Castles for the kids complete the festive display. \nCome and visit\, we would love to welcome you to our little Show. If you can’t make it during the day\, from 8.00 pm till late we have the Show Dance. £5.00 a ticket gives you a free Hog Roast\, a live band and bar. \nIndustrial Section\nFor Children and Grown-ups\, enter your baking\, crafts\, artwork and vegetables.\nThe Ellemford Show is a vibrant\, wee Agricultural Show with a big fan base. Every year\, weather permitting\, on the last Saturday of September young and old come together in the Industrial tent to enter their baking\, crafts\, artwork\, flowers and vegetables. It’s a rare step back in time with the large white tent and the tables covered with fresh white tablecloths\, proudly displaying all the beautiful entries. \nIf you would like to enter\, all the entries must be in by 10.30 am\, accompanied by a completed entry label with the class number and your name & telephone number  (please add the age if the exhibitor is a child or under 25). There is only one entry permitted per class\, except for the craft and vegetable sections. The gentleman with the most points outside the sticks and vegetable classes wins the Gentleman’s Cup! \nEntries are auctioned at the end of the afternoon.  If you wish to retain your entry\, please tick the ‘Not for Auction’ on the entry label and collect it just AFTER 3.00pm (or ask someone to collect it for you). \nOnly one entry per person is permitted in each class\, other than in the Crafts (Class 29-36) with up to 2 entries and the Stick Section. \nThe entry fee is 20p for each class\, apart from the children’s classes\, which are free.  Entry fees to be paid at the door on the day of the show\, or accompanying the exhibit if you arrive before 9.00am \nAny pastry should be homemade.  Preserves must be covered with a wax disc either cellophane or a new screw top. \nJudging takes place from 11 – 12 noon after which the tent will be open to the public.  The judge has the right to withhold any prize. \nThe Prize Giving Presentation takes place at 14.30 pm.
