Free Swimming Lessons & Reduced Rate Membership 

Abbey St. Bathans, Bonkyl and Preston Community Council have funding to offer free swimming lessons and reduced cost memberships at Duns Swimming Pool for residents of Abbey St Bathans, Bonkyl and Preston area.

Applications for a one year pool membership is ONLY open until 19th August 2025, and is ONLY available to residents within the Abbey St Bathans, Bonkyl and Preston Community. There will be a further opportunity to apply for a 6 month membership from 1-31st January 2026. Applications forms are available from a number of sources, see below. Learn2Swim

This very popular and successful programme is taught by fully qualified ASA teachers in groups.  Full funding for Swimming lessons is provided in two six-month blocks.  The funding for the second block is dependent on the attendance in the first block of lessons. You can apply for 6 months or a year on the application form. 

Annual Memberships 

As a member of Duns Swimming Pool you may attend all public sessions and special sessions (e.g. aquarobics) free of charge. Annual memberships will be part funded, with 70% covered by the funding (this will be paid for directly to the pool). For payment of the remaining 30% you will need to contact the pool directly to set up a direct debit. please see the breakdown below for costs.

Membership of Duns Amateur Swimming Club (DASC)

In addition to subsidised lessons and pool membership we are offering subsidised membership of Duns Amateur Swimming Club (DASC).

Children who have learned to swim and are able to swim several lengths can join the Swimming Club. As club members they are expected to attend swimming training for 2 hours, 3 times a week. Membership is £48 per month to cover pool hire and costs. In addition, Club members pay a fee to the Scottish Amateur Swimming Association (SASA) of £55 per year. This covers insurance whilst training and for competitions. Members are not allowed to train or compete without this insurance.

The completed application form should be returned to the administrator. Closing Date for applications 19th August 2025. However there will be a further opportunity to apply for a 6 month membership from 1-31st January 2026.
