Overview

There are currently four wind farms that provide funds to the community, and one further fund that our community is entitled to apply to.

The funds from Aikengall II Wind Farm and Penmanshiel Wind Farm are managed directly by Preston and Abbey Community Trust (PACT).

The Crystal Rig II Wind Farm fund is paid directly to the Abbey St Bathans, Bonkyl and Preston Community Council (ABPCC).

The funds from the Quixwood Moor Wind Farm are managed by the County Durham Community Foundation (CDCF) and are available to community organisations and PACT by application.

The Blackhill Community Benefit Fund is available by application for local organisations and covers several community council areas. It is administered by a board of directors made up of local people from the different communities.

Future Developments

Further wind farm developers are planning wind farms in our area. As planning permission is sought, ABPCC and PACT remain responsible for negotiating with developers for community benefits and will keep residents informed of any agreements made.

More information about each of these wind farms is given below. All of the funds are to be used to benefit the residents and environs of our Community Council area. Applications may come from outside our area, but our local residents should benefit from any project being proposed.

If you wish to apply for funding, please use the application form on this website. Alternatively, if you are applying on behalf of a community organisation you may wish to apply to the Quixwood Small Grants Fund, or the Blackhill Community Fund independently.

You are always welcome to contact the Community Funds Administrator on secretary@abpcc.org for advice on the best way to apply for funds for your project.
